Kindergarten?

I almost had a mini panic attack yesterday...I started filling out the application for the Oregon Virtual Academy for Hannah. I'm going to have a kindergartner! I was looking up the ORVA website for a friend yesterday and noticed that they are taking applications for the 09-10 school year and that space is limited to 600 students total for grades k-8 and thus was "forced" into confronting the fact that Hannah is old enough for school and that I needed to do something about it pronto. I filled out the online application and now I have to collect all the other docs. that I need to finish the application, like birth certificate and record of immunizations or in my case I have to sign a "religious/philosophical exemption" form because we do not immunize our children. I also have to get permission from the school district here to enroll Hannah in another school. It's an online school and yet I still have to give emergency contacts and prove that she's "immunized" even though she will not be in a regular classroom and will be at home with me...go figure.
I don't know if I'm ready for all of this!

yes the whole thing is a bit daunting! and make sure you keep your copys of everything..they kept loosing mine. the whole thing is just hoops you have to jump through for school and isnt as rushed as they make it out to be. :) if you need any help let me know. (I remember worrying an entire year before my girl even started school..where will she go, how will this work...how DID THIS HAPPEN! I would be totally willing to help school her too, it seems the more kids the merrier..daisy does better with others around.

You don't HAVE to start this year, Em. Especially in the midst of a new baby. What are the Oregon laws about maximum age to enter school?

Maybe it's not so much that I'm not ready but that I'm having a hard time believing she's old enough to even be thinking about school. I know I have 4 kids and they're only going to grow...but I have an almost 5 year old!

I am so with you on the time thing. I just don't understand how J got to be 6! When I think about the fact that she will be entering the first grade this fall I go into shock... I just CAN'T be old enough for that!!! (and neither can she, for that matter! :o)
I am just glad that my homeschooling method doesn't require all of the hoops! I just don't want to deal with the extra stress and such! There are positives to every method though.... :o)
