Everyday

I'm still stuck on Ikea.

But only because the catalog was sitting on top of my Bible when I went to read this morning.

The line under the Ikea heading caught my eye and made me think for a minute.

"Hooray for the everyday."

Wow.

That hasn't been my mentality at all the last few weeks.

I've lived in anticipation for a solo trip to Costco, and girl's day out and a weekend away with my husband in a few weeks but I haven't been excited about the everyday.

I get frustrated with the everyday dishes and cleaning. Forgetting to be thankful that God has blessed us with food to eat, clothes to wear and a place to live. Forgetting to be thankful that I can stay home with my kiddos and teach them and learn from them and watch them grow.

Maybe that's why my patience has been wearing thin and I've been disgruntled and grumpy. My attitude has been rotten.

So of all the "treasures" I found at Ikea, I think my favorite is the complimentary catalog I picked up.

The everyday can be a cause for celebration and hoorays if my attitude is right.

Not because of what I can buy at Ikea.

Time to get celebrating.

Hooray for the everyday!

Thank you so much for this post, Emily! It's like you read my mind, and wrote down the words I most needed to hear. I am currently working on finding balance and thankfulness in my life. It just gets overwhelming sometimes as a mama, and I forget to celebrate the everyday, little joys in my life (like sweet, sticky baby kisses, and the way my son grins when his daddy walks into the room).

This is a great note to start my day on, thanks for the inspiration :).

I love this post. It's so encouraging. I may not have little ones running around but I still find my time slipping through my fingers and wishing I didn't have to deal with the everyday chores but that is not what I should be focusing on. I have been beyond blessed and that should reflect in my attitude. Thanks Emily. :)
